About the Danish Aikido Federation
Our purpose
The purpose of the Danish Aikido Federation – DAF – is to bring together the aikido clubs in Denmark that want to be affiliated with Aikikai Hombu Dojo under one roof.
The Danish Aikido Federation, which has its headquarters in Copenhagen, is a nationwide organization which in its original initial phase back in 2005 included clubs and instructors from two styles within aikido, namely the teachings of Shoji Nishio Sensei and Morihiro Saito Sensei.
Since then, what is called a third section has entered the organization, namely dojos and clubs which are not necessarily directly style-related to these two aforementioned groups, but which want to be part of the cohesion that DAF stands for.
The management of DAF is very happy about this, as the purpose is to build this cohesion within all aikido practitioners and thereby create a healthy growth layer for the spread of aikido in Denmark.
Training and graduation take place according to guidelines from aikido's official headquarters - Hombu Dojo - in Tokyo, Japan. All dan graduations (black belt graduations) are done through aikido's main organization - Aikikai / Hombu Dojo in Japan.
Our objective
The goal is to create and maintain a high level of aikido training in Denmark. But it is not enough just to create and maintain the high level - DAF wants to spread the knowledge of aikido nationwide, as we believe that there are many more people in the country who would enjoy training aikido if they had the opportunity to try it.
DAF offers to help run aikido activities in Denmark - to conduct and approve Dan graduations, to coordinate aikido training camps, seminars, exhibitions and other events across the country.
The management of DAF has been active in aikido for more than 30 years. The experience that has been built up and the contacts that have been established during this period have given DAF a large and comprehensive network of contacts within the aikido world, nationally as well as internationally. DAF's experience and personal network are of great use to anyone who wants to carry out aikido activities.
DAF also exists to help newly started clubs get off to a good start by creating contact with the other aikido clubs in the country.
Training and graduation assistance can be arranged for newly started clubs, and solutions to many start-up difficulties are generally offered.
DAF has put together a very comprehensive PR package, which contains professionally written PR texts (in Danish) - divided into different target groups, guidance on contact and communication with various media in PR terms, and a photo series of aikido technique images that can be used for PR dissemination.
